HAU is achieving a place of prominence in academics and in sports. This month, in the National Interuniversity Competitions representing the major universities in Burundi, HAU came out #1 and won the national soccer championship again this year, winning in the finals against Lake Tanganyika University (ULT), after defeating the University of Burundi in the semi-finals.
In basketball, HAU took home a second-place win.
